The United States' use of the atomic bomb is still one of the most controversial topics of WWII to this day. The two sections under this Overview will discuss the reasoning given in 1945 by the U.S for dropping the bomb. As well as the revisionist historical look at the bombs impact on the Cold War and its possible dual purpose for ending the war.
