Description

1 map : 69 x 78 cm. Some lines hand colored. <br>This map is from a report by the Chief Engineer of the Union Pacific Railroad, General Grenville Dodge, to the U.P. Board of Directors, advocating the building of a branch line from Salt Lake City to Oregon and the Puget Sound. Dodge suggests the route could be finished by January 1, 1970. However, construction did not begin until 1881 (finally spurred on by a competing railroad), and the Oregon Short Line, as the branch was known, was not completed until 1884.
