Augustus Mitchell's maps in 1850, the publishing house of Thomas Cowperthwait & Co. published (as one of its first printings) a map of the newly formed State of California and the Oregon and Utah Territories. In this map of 1853, the Oregon Territory has been recolored (some pink but mostly yellow) and marked to show the emergence of the newly formed Territory of Washington.
